The Upper Clutha A&P Society this week launched the Wānaka A&P Foundation and an inaugural round of applications for grants to support and advance the future of the rural sector in the Upper Clutha region.
Funded by the Upper Clutha A&P Society, the Foundation has been established to provide support to individuals and organisations who are keen to pursue opportunities and develop projects that contribute to the health and future of the district’s rural community.
“The establishment of the Wānaka A&P Foundation and these grants are the Society’s way of further contributing to a dynamic and thriving future in the rural community of the Upper Clutha region.” Says Upper Clutha A&P Society Board Chair, Keith Cooper. “We’re building upon the strong rural traditions that are firmly in place while recognising the need and space for future thinking and community enrichment.”
Recognising the value and the varied roles that individuals and organisations contribute to the rural community, the Wānaka A&P Foundation has established two grants, one open to individual applicants from within the Upper Clutha region and one for community groups and initiatives.
The Capability Development Grant has been established to support community members as they seek to develop and further leadership roles, be it in agricultural innovation, sustainability or future thinking. The Capability Development Grant offers support of up to $5,000 per application.
The Rural Development & Well-being Grant supports non-profit initiatives and community groups focussed on contributing to rural development and well-being, providing assistance of up to $10,000 per application. This includes projects that focus on sustainability, environmental responsibility and community well-being.
Applications to the Wānaka A&P Foundation open on 1st September, closing on 30th September and are available to all Upper Clutha residents who meet the grant criteria.
